This 100hr Continuing Education Training (CET) is designed to provide existing yoga teachers with an enhanced understanding on the anatomy and physiology of yoga. This training is ideal for yoga teachers who are seeking an update in terms of their understanding of human anatomy in the realm of Vinyasa Yoga. This training is split into 5 pillars: Vinyasa Fundamentals, Hips and Lower Limbs anatomy, Core anatomy, Shoulders anatomy, and specialised areas such as modifying the practice of Pre- / Post-natal practitioner and the principles of injury management.

A breakdown of the day is as follows:

• 1.15pm - 3.15pm: Lecture 1 (Anatomy + Physiology)

• 3.45pm - 5pm: Sequencing Discussion

At the end of this 100hr training, you will:

• Have a better grasp on the fundamental concepts underpinning anatomy

• Gain a deeper understanding on the anatomy and physiology of the various anatomical regions

• Confidence in structuring a beneficial practice for students with commonly seen ailments and injuries

• Enhance your classes to providing a challenging, but also a safe and inclusive practice for all levels

There will be a 10 hour coursework upon the conclusion of the training period to be submitted post-training. This will go towards your 100 hour CET certification.

pillar 1: vinyasa fundamentals

We look closely into the alignment and techniques of common poses that make up a “vinyasa flow”, namely the downward facing dog, plank, chaturanga, cobra or upward facing dog. We learn more about the common movement patterns underpinning the Vinyasa practice and how we can create a more holistic practice.

We will have a deeper look at the respiratory and the nervous system by understanding its functions and yoga’s effects on these systems. We discuss how yoga is a “whole-systems” approach, in the lens of respiratory and nervous systems.

pillar 2:
hips anatomy

Understand some of the key movements of the hip joint, the musculature surrounding the hip joint, and how we can strengthen and length these muscles effectively in order to move the hip joint safely and effectively.

Learn how to effectively harness functional mobility of the hip joint and hamstrings to ground your practice, and how we can easily create strength in these regions through small adaptations to our existing practice.

pillar 3: lower limbs anatomy

Deep dive into the musculature of the feet and ankles where we look at the intrinsic and extrinsic foot muscles, and how we can create greater resilience in those regions especially in the realm of single leg balances.

Explore strategies in creating greater awareness and proprioception of the feet in sequencing our classes.

pillar 4: shoulder anatomy

We learn the beauty and intricacies of the shoulder joint and its musculature in this session, and explore how the various stable weight bearing positions of the shoulder joint can transform our arm balance and inversion practice. We find greater strength and stability in the region and set a strong foundation for our arm balance and inversion practice.

By deep diving into shoulder anatomy, we look at how we can encourage a well rounded perspective on strengthening our shoulders, and its effects on the overall well being of our body.

pillar 5: specialised areas

We will look at ways to modifying a Vinyasa practice for the Pre- and Post-Natal practitioner, as well as some of the strategies and best practices with regards to injury management. You will gain greater confidence in providing an inclusive practice for different demographics, and provide a safe yet challenging practice in a confident manner.
